Biography

I’ve been writing for magazines and newspapers for close to a decade. In that time, my by-lined business and technology coverage has appeared in such publications as the New York Times Magazine, Newsweek and Newsweek Japan, the Financial Times, Fortune, Fortune Small Business, Inc, Continental, and Chief Executive, where I’m a contributing editor. I’ve written on a wide range of other topics for such titles as Saveur, Scuba Diving, USA Weekend, the Columbia Journalism Review, and the American Journalism Review.

I have years of practical experience in a variety of industries, including as a manager at a publicly held company and as a strategic and marketing consultant. This background helps me understand the practical and subtle issues of business.

Additionally, I teach, speak, and write about the craft and business of writing. Across the country I’ve appeared on panels about writing contracts and negotiation and have given talks and seminars on time management for reporters and photography for writers.

My photography has appeared in such publications as Newsweek and Boston Magazine. Much of my work is fine art and portraiture, with a specialty in book jacket and magazine contributor photographs for authors.
